Story

1930

Valloire is a small mountain village. A few youngsters start training with military troops.

1935

Valloire  has 2 hotels, the tourist office is created. The Paris ski club organises ski lessons in Valloire.

1936

the Paris Alpine Ski club (linked to CAF) establishes 2 ski schools : one in les Pyrenees,  the other in Valloire.
That year, the village becomes a ski resort. There are 12 instructors. New hotels, family pensions, various shops, ice rink, dancings are created.

1938

the first lift was installed in les granges.

1938
1939

Pomagalski installs a draglift near the grand hotel.

1945

A draglift on Rocher St Pierre, another in les Verneys, A gondola  on la setaz and on cret rond.

1970
1971

the village equips the crey du quart, doubling the ski area.
Construction of  a chair lift of pre rond
Construction of  of 3 draglifts : Pré rond; Lac de la vieille and la crète.

1974

Valloire -Valmeinier link.

1980

Construction of  Verneys’ chairlift.
Link between the 3 valleys exist: Valloire, Valmeinier Les Verneys.

1982

Construction of  Montissot and Colérieux chairlifts allowing to link Crey du Quart from la Setaz.

1983

Construction of  open artificial icerink.

1985

Construction of  the setaz gondola.

1987

Extension of the ski area to valmeinier 135 km of slopes

1988

Inauguration of the open air village swimming pool.

1989

Ste Thècle campsite opens its doors.
1st seriesof snow canons is done.
Construction of  the thimel chairlift.

1990

2nd series of snow canons.
Construction of  verneys’ beginner draglift.

1994
1995

Construction of  the lac de la vieille chairlift.
remaking of chateau ripaille and grand plateau draglifts.

1996

Extension of the snow cannons installation.

1999

Making of the Cret de la Brive cable car and the Séa and Pagoret draglifts.

2000

UTN project (New Touristic unity) for the reconstruction of the crey rond massif with the link to Massif de la Setaz.

2001

Extension of the snow cannons installation.

2002

With 266 snow cannons, the artificial snow covers all level slopes.
Making of a 4 seat chairlift in Moulin Benjamin on the Setaz Massif.

2003

72 new snow canons are placed on the crey du quart massif enabling to ski from the Lace de la vieille to Setaz massif and to come back to the resort.

The automatic snow making with 350 snow canons make the coming back from both massifs possible.
 

  A 6 seat detachable chairlift  (Brive 2 chair lift) replaces the 4 seat Lac de la vieille chirlift with arrival on top of the crey du quart.
  4 seat  Lac de la vieille chair lift replaces the Pagoret draglift.
  Old machines are dismantled : Pré rond chairlift, the old. Montissot chairlift and the Cabestan de richelieu draglift in les verneys.

2004

25 new snow-canons are placed on the Crey du Quart and Sétaz area for a better skiing comfort.
  Re-arrangement of a beginner area on the Séa plateau, at the top of the Brive cable-car.
  Increase of the Brive cable-car delivery thanks to 20 additional cabins.
  Dismantling of old equipments: Crêt-rond chairlift, Ruaz draglift and the old Sétaz cable-car.
  Turfing of recent slopes (Moulin, mulots, etc.)

2005

New snow canons complete the equipment of the crey du quart and setaz massifs for a maximum of comfort.
A second 6 seat detachable chairlift !
The Grandes Drozes chairlift improves the link between Valloire and Valmeinier.

2006

More than 380 snow canons! The automatic snow making enables to go back to the resort skiing from both massifs (crey du quart and setaz).
Snow canons complete the equipment of the massifs of the cry du quart and setaz for a maximum of comfort.

2007

4 seat girodière chairlift
ARVA park training area for avalanche research
More than 400 snow canons!

The “Moneul” quad chairlift to replace the skilift « La Combe »
Brive Altitude Restaurant (access by the cable-car Brive)
